The Alumni Advisory Committee is fully engaged with students, the faculty, the Administration as well as the Alumni in formulating the strategy and plan for RSE 3.0. The reception has been very encouraging from everyone with whom we have spoken. We are currently having detailed discussions with supportive faculty members and students to really dig into the specific mission and activities of the new RSE 3.0.

Our engagement with the RSE Alumni will continue with a virtual Alumni Retreat on Saturday February 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST to discuss the RSE 3.0 model and gain feedback.  If you are interested in attending, please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. At the Retreat, we plan to:

  1. provide the Alumni a status of the Alumni Advisory Committee work on RSE 3.0;
  2. review current a draft of RSE 3.0 plan and obtain feedback from Alumni; and
  3. review the approach to bring RSE 3.0 to the April Society and Trustees Meeting for approval.

The RSE Trustees had previously formed an Alumni Advisory Committee (AAC), consisting of 32 alumni and Junior Members, to develop the new long-term strategy for a transformed RSE organization, named “RSE 3.0”.  RSE 3.0 seeks to maintain some of the core values of RSE by creating a living and collaboration community at Rensselaer focused on professional, career, and personal development for students and alumni with an emphasis on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship by delivering:

  • Supportive environment and community of undergraduate, graduate, faculty and alumni members who share the mission.
  • Support to students for academic success.
  • Opportunities for learning and practicing leadership skills and a broad range of life skills.
  • Alumni networking and mentoring for career and professional development for both students and alumni.
  • Hosting events in support of innovation and entrepreneurship for members, alumni and Rensselaer faculty.
  • Hosting events with support of Rensselaer, alumni, and external resources to support professional and career development of its members.
  • Initiatives around social responsibility through sustainability and philanthropic activities.
  • A central campus facility that can serve as a focal point for its members and an extended Rensselaer community providing collaborative space for fostering the mission of the organization.

The current foundation of RSE 3.0 was heavily influenced by Alumni feedback from the November 2020 Retreat.  Your participation and input is really valuable to the process.  Don’t forget to sign up for the Saturday February 20, 2021 event by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots.
